Introducing Rocket: A Free All-In-One Device Management Solution

Managing a school’s tech ecosystem can be complex, but it doesn’t have to be. That’s why at K-12 Tech, we developed Rocket – a comprehensive, all-in-one device management solution to streamline the technology management process for your students and staff. As a free service, Rocket offers unparalleled value, continuously evolving with new updates and features based on your feedback.

“We created Rocket because there was a need for schools to track their assets, incidents, and help desk tickets in one place without having to pay for it,” explains Zach Marvel, K-12 Tech President and creator of Rocket. “We initially tried to partner with two other solutions, but they did not share our vision. Therefore, we created Rocket with ease of use in mind.”

Rocket is designed to simplify tech management for schools. It allows you to track what matters most:

  • Physical assets
  • Software
  • Parts
  • Billing information
  • Storage locations
  •  Current and previous ownership
  •  Serial numbers
  • Purchase dates
  •  Warranty details

For non-K-12 Tech customers, Rocket is designed to be user-friendly, complemented by an extensive online knowledge base and user guides. Integration with existing technology is straightforward, with easy imports for transferring information from other systems. Routine updates for security and feature enhancements are scheduled to minimize user disruption and are communicated in advance.

Here are some of our other favorite features:

  • Instant Ticketing: Easily create tickets for repairs and print shipping labels directly from the system.
  • Bulk Data Management: Get devices into students’ hands by importing/exporting tickets and device/user information, archiving graduated users, and checking devices in and out through scanning or importing.
  • Transparent data dashboards: Provide live insights on which devices need the most repair, helping you budget and plan for the upcoming school year.
  • Google Console: Sync your Google Admin Console device information and users with ease, with automatic nightly syncs to keep data up-to-date.
  • Help Desk Functionality: Automatic staff assignment with unique help desk links by section/building, and optional Google or Microsoft SSO for secure access.

Security is a Top Priority

We offer cutting-edge cloud security backed by Google’s and Microsoft’s login infrastructure. The intuitive cloud-based design ensures instant access with no limit on the number of users, allowing you to assign staff different roles and control their access. Additionally, inventory tracking lets you manage your parts inventory along with the ones purchased through us.

Parental Coverage

Rocket also includes features like parental coverage options, allowing you to charge parents for repairs, preserving your budget. The parental coverage sign-up within Rocket offers an easy way for schools to enroll in parental coverage while efficiently collecting coverage purchase data. Benefits of having this within Rocket include showing which students have purchased coverage and integrating this information into ticketing for easy reference.

Why is it free?

The answer is simple. We want to save schools money. Our mission is to add value to education through robust technology solutions. Offering Rocket for free showcases our capabilities and the quality of our services, aligning with our mission to enhance school technology management.

Our competitors (Incident IQ and Learn 21) typically charge $1.50 per student for similar software. “My hope is that we can save the US K-12 school system a collective $100 million per year compared to other solutions on the market. We aim to provide a tool that is intuitive, helpful, and fast, offering real-time reporting and data.” Marvel says.

We designed Rocket to make the repair process easier for our customers, and now we want to offer it to all schools at no cost to help them save money. You don’t need to be a K-12 Tech customer to use Rocket, but it integrates seamlessly with our services if you decide to use us in the future. Rocket prioritizes security with top-tier measures and hosting on secure servers, and we strictly protect your data and will never sell individual contact information or data from Rocket.

“Rocket improves our tech department’s ability to track, manage, and maintain IT assets,” says Amanda Ball, systems administrator at Jackson County Public Schools. “This has led to better asset utilization, reduced downtime, and improved resource allocation for our district-managed devices.”
